The Heat is On (Hot Weather Vehicle Concerns)

At M&W Auto Service and Tire, we understand that hot weather can push your vehicle’s components to their limits. Here are a few things our valued customers should watch out for as the mercury climbs higher:

Your Vehicle’s Air Conditioning (A/C) System: If your A/C is only blowing hot air, even though it worked fine last fall, it could be due to a variety of issues. From the blower motor to the condenser, a worn compressor, or a refrigerant leak, all sorts of things can fail. A/C diagnosis and repair require a trained technician, and our team is here to help.

Tires: Heat is hard on tires. Rubber breaks down in sunlight and hot weather, and tire pressure climbs as the temperature rises. Our trained technicians will check your tire pressure, tread depth, cupping, and other signs of uneven wear, and we’ll track down the cause. It may be time for some new tires, and we’re here to ensure you’re safe on the road.

Cooling System: It’s no surprise that summer breakdowns are often caused by vehicle overheating. Let us check your cooling system components, coolant levels, and the condition of your hoses, belts, and radiator. We’ll make sure everything is in top shape to prevent any unexpected breakdowns.

Battery: While cold weather is tough on your vehicle’s battery, heat is even harder and can shorten its life more quickly. At M&W Auto Service and Tire, we can test your battery with our specialized equipment to see how much life it has left. Depending on your climate, batteries typically last three to six years, and a regular battery test will help you avoid being stranded by a dead one.

Brakes: Your safety depends on your brakes’ stopping power, and during hot weather, they get even hotter than in other seasons. Have your brakes inspected periodically to make sure they’re providing the stopping power they should. Our team is here to ensure your safety on the road.

Engine Oil: Engine oil is really taxed during hot weather. Our service advisors can make sure you have the right kind and amount of oil to keep your engine’s components working in harmony throughout the blistering hot weather. The heat may be on, but you can be on top of it with M&W Auto Service and Tire.

Stay cool and safe this summer with our expert care!
